Hijacked Browser - :(

  alexgray104 12:36 13 Feb 2006

Hi All, I have a computer with Windows XP MCE that I think the browser has been hacked on. I got a virus - which AVG removed and now whenever I start up my PC I get "C:/Windows/microsoft.net/framework/v1.1.4322/mscorwks.dll could not be loaded" Also my homepage automatically goes back to "findthewebsiteyouneed" every time I reboot which is not what I want! And finally, whatever website I go on I get a bar saying "Active X Control: This site may require free internet access by Zango Search Tools" Obviously I don't click this. Many Thanks in advance for your much appreciated help. Alex.

Thanks Skyver, will give you idea a go. Anyone got any ideas with the Active X control or .NET framework prob???

ActiveX is related to your browser problems, get the other missing file here (click here) or remove Net Framework 1.1 and re-install (click here), or remove 1.1 and update to v2.0 (click here)

Thanks v. much for your help skyver, what do I do when it has downloaded, just run it to install??

  Skyver 13:10 13 Feb 2006

I'll assume you mean either version of Net Framework. Best to try add/remove to clear out the faulty one first, reboot then run the downloaded file.

ok will do, I have my report from hijackthis and have posted it on their forum - no reply yet tho :(

It may take a while, they keep an eye on new threads. Hijackthis logs are a specialist subject there.

I have tried downloading the missing file (mscorwks) and have extracted it. What do I do now?

I would do nothing more until you get help and advice from the malaware forum you may make the situation worse.

  Skyver 13:30 13 Feb 2006

Put it in C:/Windows/microsoft.net/framework/v1.1.4322/
then wait for a response from the other forum as stalion advises.
