HELP!!! problem reinstalling Win98

I am in desperate need of some help.
I am reinstalling win98, something I have done many times before, but this time after the system formats drive c I get a warning message saying:
"Disk boot sector is to be modified. Type Y to accept, any key to abort".
If I accept, Windows prepares setup to 100% and then hangs.
There are no bad clusters reported and all tests the system performs come out fine.
Anyone out there know whats going on?

but have you tried Fdisk? If you fdisk the drive first and then format it, it might just work - of course, then again, it might not, but surely worth a try?


PS Just in case your disk is partioned, make sure your don't wipe out your logical drives.

Win98 will not boot if boot sector is beyond a certain boundary(can't recall precise figure).Maybe this is the problem. I have had similar problem after adding additional OS. Solved by moving Win98 install to start of drive.

Are you formatting the HDD from a floppy boot? If not click here and boot from a floppy....TT

Cycose's solution has worked...I needed to disable antivirus in the cmos. Thanks Cycose for the link.
