Help please - SpywareGuard 2008

  robbymild 13:29 26 Dec 2008

My son has just got this nasty spyware on his laptop - windows xp.
It seems to prevent me doing a system restore to try to get rid of it. Also when I try to access legit anti-spyware sites on the i/net it diverts me to other un-related sites so I can't get any downloads.
I surmise that it will also prevent anti-spyware cds loading too but haven't yet tried this option.

I'm no expert at editing registry entries even if I knew what to locate and zap.
Any help would be gratefully rec'd please.

Thx guys but the virus is preventing me from accessing the ant-virus sites.

You will need malwarebytes to remove this ;

Download Mbam from click here

If you cannot download,if possible download and save to disc from another computer and install/update then boot into safemode and run.

You maybe lucky and boot into safemode with networking and download from there.

Other removal method (manual) click here

Sorry guys but not able to get a fix. Simply can't access any of the 1st party or 3rd party anti-virus download sites. No joy with safe mode either. And system restore doesn't work.

Any other thoughts please?
