help needed to install sata hard drive

  SantasLittleHelper 20:57 16 May 2006

Hi, I had the same problem with my SATA drive, and my motherboard supports SATA. After eight days of head banging I found that the problem was my hard drive was SATA II and my motherboard was SATA I. I had to put a jumper across pins 5&6, it was immediately recognised then. Also make sure you have the latest SATA drivers installed.Hope this helps, by the way, my drive is a Western Digital but there will be similar pins on yours. It is just a case of going to the Seagate website and checking the FAQ section.
