I'm running XP Home and have tried the "repair MS Office" option from Add/Remove, I wasn't asked for the disk, and the repair took about 10 minutes to complete, advising that it was successful though the problem still persists. Picture Mgr. just displays the small "Office" screen and then nothing more. "OIS.exe" is running in task mgr. but using no CPU. I have to "End process" to abort despite the dire warnings! Is there some other way I can get it to work?
For anyone else so afflicted, Picture Manager maintains an MRU list in an XML file. If one of those locations is no longer valid, or is on a slow link, Picture Manager will appear to hang.
Click Start>Run and enter : - >>%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\OIS<< This brings up the OIS Folder where you should delete the "OIScatalog.cag" file. (or rename it as "old" just to be safe!) and you're back to normal!
