Help me with my silly acting wireless adapter

  Faceguy 17:42 29 Jun 2007

I have received a D-link D-Link AirPlus G Wireless Adapter USB Adapter and I have already installed a router that should send the internet signal; the router is a DI-524 > High Speed 2.4GHz (802.11g) Wireless Router. It is installed and working properly but I can not seem to get the adapter to work. The cd is'nt working and the adapter doesn't seem to respond to anything. Please help me.

On dlink adapters you must install the driver and software from the CD if cd is not working you will need to get a new one

I take it that the CD player is working

Software must be install before adapter in connect into laptop

Try the dlink web site to download the driver
click here click Technical support (along the top) and select DWL-G122 from the list and pick the appropriate version A1, B1, C1. You'll then get the driver to download and install.

have you a icon the desktop & and one in the task bar

Also have you a manual

you will now have to configure the adapter to find the router

Go the appendix in the manual

I have both of these items and I'm not sure about how to configure the adapter.

i've also already installed all the drivers. it now works for a second and then quickly loses the connection or searches for the connection and doesn't find it

Did you check your browser setting.

Internet Explorer 4.0 or Higher

1. Start your web browser. Select “Tools” then “Internet Options”.

2. In the “Internet Options” screen, there are three selections:

“Never dial a connection”,
“Dial whenever a network connection is not present”
“Always dial my default connection”.

If you can make a selection, select “Never dial a connection”.

If you cannot make a selection, go to the next step.

3. Under the “Internet Options” screen, click on “Connections” and
select “LAN Settings…”.

4. Make sure there are no check marks next to any of the displayed

“Automatically detect settings”,

“Use automatic configuration script”

“Use a proxy server”.

5. Click “OK”. Then click “OK” again in the “Internet Options” page.

Check the Network Adapter Setup on the Computer

1. Click “Start”, “Settings” Network Connection

2. Double-click on the “Network Connection

3. Left-click on the “Local Area Connection” associated with your
network adapter

Select “Properties” from the drop-down menu.

4. In the “Local Area Connection Properties” window all boxes should be ticked

Tick the box “Show Icon in Notification Area When Connected,

An Icon will appear in the task bar when you have finish the setup

5. Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” Click the “Properties” button

6. Select “Obtain an IP address automatically

7. Obtain DNS server address automatically”

Do Not Change Any Other Setting

8. Click “OK”.

Your computer network card is now configured for use with the Modem/Router

Did you get a manual if you did go the Appendix page 7 and just follow the instruction

Only need to use from page 7 to page 10 if using XP

Set the SSID to the same name as the SSID on the router

In other if the router SSID is 3Com, Linksys04, Billjones etc, you have to set the SSID on card the same

Once you have done that do a rescan
