Help me! Adding an aditional internal hard disk

  richym82 14:13 03 Oct 2007

I want add an additional internal hard disk and i have ATA type currently. The problem is connecting the data cable; i have two sockets on my motherboard only - both in use. One cable goes to the current disk and one of the cd drives, the other goes to the other cd drive i guess. So i have no free sockets (i have 2 cables but only one has the midway connector but is in use as described). So is the solution to replace the cable that doesnt have a midway connector with a cables that does have one?

Yes and put both the optical drives together and then both the Hdd's together. Don't forget to make sure that the exsiting drive is set to master and the new one to slave.

As above. replace the cable with one connecter with a cable with two connecters. Get a ata133 ribbon cable with 80 wires and 40 pins. these support modern drives.
