Help, illegal operation performed in Excell 98 !!

  Joey D 21:05 05 May 2004

Whenever I try to save data in Excell 98 the following warning is displayed..."illegal operation performed. Invalid page fault in module Excell.exe @ 0137:300ea93b" It then goes on to list registers, bytes & stack dump details. It doesn,t matter if I have no new data to save ,as soon as I click Save, Save as, or Ctrl-S, the warning appears & the program shuts down my pc.
What,s gone wrong ? Can someone help please.

I presume that you mean Excel 97 (there is no 98 version).

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing Office 97?

VoG, Sorry Excell97. Can,t un-install/re-install as I,ve no copy of Office 97 disk.

Which version of Windows?

Does this happen with any workbook or just one or a few?

Its Windows 95, & the problem only affects Excell.
Word & PowerPoint are both OK.

OK, what I meant is does this only happen with one Excel file or all of them?

The problem occurs in all files.

Well, I'm sorry but I am stuck on this one.

You have Windows 95 so there is no System Restore and not even System File Checker.

You have Office 97 which does not have the Detect and Repair option. This would need an Office disk anyway.

You don't have the Office 97 disk, so no possibility to re-install.
