Help- Display problem

  [DELETED] 15:32 27 Feb 2006

After moving my PC from one room to another I have a display problem. On booting up my Dell 1800FP TFT connected via DSub goes into sleep mode after the splash screen. Only if I boot up in VGA mode can I do anything at all. If I then try to increase resolution and colour depth it blanks off and I have to kill it with the on/off button and boot again.
Much the same thing happens with an old CRT monitor from 10 years ago so its perhaps not the monitor? Don't have a digital connection on the display card.
In hardware manager the Dell monitor is shown as working OK. Windows XP Pro.

Thanks fruit bat but when I do that it comes back to say the drivers are no newer than the ones installed then stops.

I would suggest deleting both the graphics and monitor drivers and then reinstalling them.

Thanks Gongoozler, that certainly worked although I would like to know why it hapened in the first place. Maybe the PC has sensed that its replacement is due in just over a weeks time!
