Help with choosing a new graphics card

  JimPD 22:03 08 Jun 2004

As a new user this is my first post, and I freely admit that I have limited knowledge in this area!
I have Dell Dimension 4400 1.7Ghz with 256RAM. I am looking to upgrade my graphics card (the one that came with the machine) which is a 16MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra.
I would be using the PC for a fair amount of gaming and have a maximum of £100 to spend.
Any suggestions, help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will get a Saphire radeon (made by ATI) 9600XT with 256 RAM at ebuyer for just under £113 inc VAT or you could go for a Winfast GEForce FX5700 256 RAM for £103.

Each has their own favourite, but either are highly rated cards and well up to the demands of modern games at all but the highest resolutions.

oops for either read "both"

Personally prefer the ati's. The 9600 are good but if you can stretch your budget by £30 then I would recommend 9800 pro (a much better card, which will cope with future games)
