Hi, i have an Hitachi 1TB 16Mb cache harddrive.I want to set up another Hitachi 1TB harddrive but can only find one with a 32Mb cache will i still be able to set up a riad configuration ?

I don't see why you should have a problem. HDDs in a raid configuration do not have to be identical.

Thanks Mr Mistoffelees, but according to my Gigabyte motherboard manual the chapter on configuring SATA harddrives says "Before you begin, please prepare at least 2 SATA harddrives (to ensure optimal performance,it is recomended that you use 2 harddrives with identical model and capacity)"? They are both Hitatchi, they both have 1TB capacity. But one has a 16MB cache the other has a 32MB cache, so will it still work?

actually they don't, its just not recommended as you loose drive space and The smallest drive determines the size of the array.

In your case you will be fine...
