Hi, i have posted this issue before but i can't let it go: My gf had a HP Pavilion dv4-1000ea laptop that has it's fan on virtually all the time (unless i put it in a freezer!!), the problem is that the only fan outlet (for want of a better word) is at the rear left of the laptop and faces down so when the laptop is on, say, a wooden table, it heats up very quickly! She now has to have it balanced on coasters! I have been advised to get a laptop cooler but i spent £35 on one and found it clunky and raised the laptop too far off the table! I have used a can of compressed air regularly to blow out any dust and even used a vacuum but still, every day, the damn thing is on but at varying speeds! Please can anyone suggest any ideas? Ps- upgrading the Ram from 3gb to 4gb wouldn't make any difference would it? Pps- there are very few programmes running in the background too!!
RAM wouldn't make any difference - she has plenty. You could look at Performance in Ctrl Alt Delete to see what the CPU is doing. If it's very high, may be worth running a scan for nasties with anti virus and anti malware.
