Have to keep reloading windows XP

  lilythepink 22:48 14 May 2004

My computer keeps shutting down every few days, with the message windows\system32\config\system.

It says this file is missing or corrupt. I have to reload windows and everything else.

ANy suggestions to cure this?

Go My computer then right click on the drive choose Properties then tools then Error Checking then tick automatically fix file system errors and click start. You will need to reboot for it to start.

Dont have the cure, but are you using sata hard drives as it may have something to do with corruption problems.

Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management, Storage, right-click the Volume, Tools, Options, Check Now button, Select Options, Start.

Or boot with the xp cd and choose the recovery console at the prompt type in

chkdsk C: /p

and hit Return/Enter
