Haskell - unwanted spaces

Im trying to read in a file in Haskell (using readFile) and extract just those lines that have words on them, i.e. get rid of empty lines. does anyone know how to implement this

not a clue as to what Haskell is but when using word and opening a non word document with lots of rubbish in I then use find/replace to clean it up.

Haskell is a functional programming language

could you load the file into notepad and use find and replace to get rid of the rubbish and then save in plain text mode? I did this years ago with a basic prog file that had got corrupted.
