I have a fujitsu siemens laptop with a 120GB S.M.A.R.T. S-ATA 150 harddrive

I am looking to replace it with this:

which is also SATA, but it doesnt say that it is S.M.A.R.T.

is this a problem? will it still work and what is the downside to it not being smart?

SMART stands for Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology. It is usually enabled via the computers BIOS, it will tell you if your drive is in working order and foretell iminent failure.
