Hard drive security puzzle

  knockin on 20:21 03 May 2006

I have 2 laptops and the properties dialogue boxes for the C Drives are not the same altho both are running XP Pro. E.G.
Laptop one: right click the C Drive in windows explorer, and select properties.A box with the following tabs appears:
General; Tools; Hardware; Sharing; Security; and Quota.
Laptop 2: the equivalent box has the same tabs EXCEPT there is No Security tab.
As I want to set access limits and permissions to be the same on both machines can anyone help me find the missing 'security' tab.
(this tab is missing on all folder/properties on laptop 2, but shows on laptop 1 folders)
Help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to disable simple file sharing (Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options / View Tab / scroll all the way to the bottom and uncheck "Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended)".
