Is it possible to recover any files from a hard drive that has been restored to factory settings?
We have installed the 3 cd's on a pc running win xp after it had failed to boot up as normal. (PC World could only advise it was a common win xp crash problem)!

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,
Shergar.

If you used the recovery disk to restore your system back to factory settings, then I think it would have definately formatted your hard drive and permanently erased everything.

Thats what the restore disks do, restore the system back to the way it was when you bought it.

Maybe there is a way, to recover but I very much doubt it.

The 3 cd's were the system installation cd's as far as I know, (not my pc, not my problem thank fully).

Files can sometimes be recovered, but it's expensive.
