hi, my pc was droped down some stairs and the only thing that seemed to survive was the hard drive, even the mother board was damaged. so i brought a hard drive case to put it in to try and get all the data off and put it on my lap top, but when i plugged into into my usb port it says its found usb hdi but harware might not be working rite. any ideas what the problem mite be?

Make sure the HDD jumper is set as Master.

have you got the power lead plugged into the hard drive and power to the case?

I'd say the hard drive didn't survive the fall.

Try looking for the drive in "disk management" what op system are you using? XP / Vista / Win 98?

I'm with Smiler on this one. The HDD might look OK from the outside, but the delicate innards weren't designed to survive that kind of event. I'd say it's knackered too.

Try hooking it up a slave drive in another desktop pc? That's worked for me in the past
