i have 2 hard drives on my pc one is Maxtor 6L080M0 Plus 10 80GB 7200RPM SATA/150 8MB Cache which is my main hard drive and my second is a Maxtor 6E040L0 Diamondmax Plus 8 40Gb 7200RPM ATA/133 2MB Cache which i use for storing music and work ect. every now and again my pc will restart itself when i try to open my second hard drive then say windows has recovered from a serious error and sometimes the drive will dissapear and i will have to restart my pc to make it show up again. i have checked the cables and they seem to be alright, i have also check both drives for errors using the windows error checking tool and system mechanic 6 drive medic and they both say that there are no errors im just wondering if my hard drive is starting to fail

No I would be much more likely to believe its a faulty EIDE cable or check the power supply to the eide drive is fully in. Then again it may be worth checing the power saving options on the drive and the ide drivers for the motherboard.
