Hard drive dead ?

  helpgraphics 11:12 17 Jul 2014

Ok so about a month ago my pc kept coming up with hard drive 'status bad backup and replace'

I already have backed it up onto 3 discs but I think it may have been burnt by my 4.2ghz CPU or something I'm no pc expert

When I start up and login to windows the screen freezes but I can still move the mouse and not click anything also the icons are sometimes white

What do I do??

After leaving my pc on the frozen desktop screen for one hour an application error appears

Reader_sl.exe The instruction at 0x0000000070D65974 referenced memory at 0x0000000070D65974. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000185. Click ok to terminate the programm.

Anyone know what it means

Now it restarted itself and there's a black screen saying

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press any key

I'd say that both those errors are symptoms of a failing disk. In the first place, it references an I/O error, which I'd guess meant that it tried to find something on the disk and failed - and in the second, the BIOS isn't finding an operating system on the hard drive to boot from. If you haven't backed up your stuff already, you may be too late. Sorry.
