Windows 98 won't load in safe mode.

Scan disc finds a data error in the fat which it can't fix

Is there a way to regenerate the fat tables?

Is there a way to scan the disc in dos to see if the data is recoverable?

Fozzie hopefully

Can you add the disk as a slave into another system? If so, some of the XP tools available may help.

If you can create a new win98 installation on another disk, then running the dos tools may help.
