Hard Disk failure

My 3 1/2 year old hard disk failed recently with a blue screen saying "un mountable volume drive Blah blah blah".

However, there is data i need to get off the disk, such as music, pictures and videos which cannot be replaced, and no I didnt back them up.

When I purchase my new PC, and set the swithces on the old disk to make it a slave and read it from Explorer, rather than have to boot the disk from XP?

Are there any alternative methods of accessing the data apart from a specialist company?

Try Search and Recover 3:
providing it has not been overwritten, you can copy what is there over on to you new disk!
