hard disc backup

I have a caddy and hard disc for back up but my PC is SATA and the backup disc ide. Can I use this disc,using usb for backup? If not could some kind person tell me what to do?

Short answer is YES.
What are you going to use as the back up software, suggest something like Acronis True Image

Presumably your caddy connects to the computer via USB and it has an IDE connector inside it? If so, you don't have a problem.

I agree with stylehurst about Acronis TI - worth every penny. Just make sure that, if you're running Vista, you buy ATI version 11.

That was fast. I thought that both types were completely incompatible with each other. That is something I have learned. Thank you Both very much
