Graphics- PCIe compared with PCIe 2.0?

  fpg 15:57 20 May 2009

I wish to upgrade from a PCIe card and the slot is PCIe. The latest Graphic Cards are PCIe 2.0.
Will they work in a PCIe slot but will their performance be diluted?
Is there a new PCIe card that can compare with the Radeon HD 4770 which is PCIe 2.0?
Advice appreciated

PCI Express 2.0 products are fully backwards compatible with existing PCI Express motherboards for the broadest support.
