Graphics / Memory or AGP problem?

Intel I865PE Chipset. Gforce FX5200 P4 3.4GHZ 512MB DDR333 Win XP Pro 17" TFT Monitor.. Hi all. I have recently been given this PC after it's previous owner buggered it up by plugging the monitor into it whilst both were powered up. This blew (I Think) the previous GC an FX5500. The fan on the GC did not spin and only 2D was available. It is an advent PC and no recovery cd or driver cd are present. I have put XP Pro on it and all seemed well. However, after installing some very simple games (Rocketmania) etc it crashes almost as soon as they load them to play, although sometimes we can get 20 mins or so. The games just go back to the desktop where I can start them again straight after. Sometimes BSOD with IRQ_NOT_LESS etc error.Does not specify what caused this. My instinct was faulty memory which I have changed, with no better results.Have downloaded all INF installers and updates from Intel. Any Takers on this one?
