graphics card wont boot

I have just bought a Gainward 9800GT 1024 DDR3 card. I have all the recommended specs and upgraded the psu to 500w. I uninstalled the drivers for the old card, rebooted, everything seemed ok but the monitor stays in power save mode. Ihave installed the old card and all back to normal. What have I missed?

Did you install drivers for the new card?

First, try reseating the new card again. And make sure you have connected the extra 6 pin cable from the PSU to your new card, as in the image below.

If that fails, I'd say you have a duff card.

there is nowhere to plug extra power cable, I assume thats because it is the green edition

Forgot to add that the fan spins ok

Must be duff then.....Refund / replace.
