Graphics card question

  Billawa 18:40 23 Jul 2007

I run Windows XP SP2 and the original computer came with on board ATI graphics. I have now decided to use a dedicated card for better graphics. On installing the new card should I disable the on board one and if so how do I go about it? Thanks in advance for any help.

On most modern boards installing a graphics card will automatically disable the onboard graphics.
If it does not you need to go into the BIOS to disable it, depending what your make of BIOS is you need to look under headings like Advanced or peripherals.
When you boot the splash page will tell you how to access the BIOS, normally it is the Delete key but could be F2.
If you do have to go into the BIOS, after you have made the changes press F10 and press enter to exit and save the changes.

I forgot to say before you install the graphics card, uninstall the drivers, then install the card and the new drivers.
