Graphics card problem

  thewasp 21:31 06 Mar 2006

When I go into device manager, my graphics card (Geforce fx5200) has a yellow exclamation mark against it and it says there is a problem with it.

If I enable it it seems to work ok but when the pc reloads it comes up with the error again.

Any ideas?

Uninstall the driver and reboot. When the card is detected by windows, install drivers again

Sorry, remove the driver in Add or Remove Programs

Ok, have done that and reinstalled the very latest driver.

Comes up with this error - This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Is it time to buy a new one?

Could anyone recommend a good budget card?

The pc is only used for the occasional (older) game, but it would be nice to know it will run more modern stuff.

Would the Radeon 9250 128mb or similar be enough?

Try taking the graphics card out and re-seating it.If you still get code10 error,go into device manager, right click your g/card choose properties and click the Resources tab to see if there are any conflicts.

No conflicts.

Hav got new gfx card (radeon 9550) to eliminate possibility of a problem with the old one.

I keep getting the code 10 error on device manager despite installing the latest drivers.

Any suggestions?

uninstall the card in device manager reboot computer then try reinstalling drivers the computer will think new hardwear added after start up

Have tried that, upon restart it recognises the new hardware and installs it.

But once the pc is restarted again the code 10 appears.

I have installed the card successfully on my 2nd hard drive (clean install) there seems to be something on my main hd causing the problem.
