Graphics Card Problem

  Phil930 14:44 18 Aug 2004

I recently purcahsed an EVGA 6800 Non Ultra and all was working fine. Now after a clean installation of Win XP Pro including SP2 i can no longer run an graphical applications. SP2 installed DX9.0c. The problem is when a game runs after about 15 seconds i get many blue pixels and blue lines across the screen, distorting the picture. In 3d Mark 2003 i also had white pixels and lines across the screen. This then causes the computer to lock up and automatically reboot itself. Upon reboot back into windows it gives me an error message stating 'The computer has recovered from a serious error'.

In windows the computer runs fine and has had to problems with locking up etc. Its now only when i play games that i get problems. i've tried lock on, far cry, doom 3, 3d mark 03 and 01 and they all have the same display colour problem and then lock up.

My computer spec is; Asus A7N8X Rev 2.0, 1Gb Corsair 3200LLPT RAM, AMD XP 3200, EVGA 6800 NU, Creative Aud 2 ZS, Win XP Pro SP2.

MY drivers for my VC are 61.77 reference drivers. My Nforce 2 drivers are Version 4.24. I have no other applications running in the background.

Can you please help me? I fear my graphics card has gone bad.

More likely to be DirectX - are you sure your card is compatible with DirectX 9? Try uninstalling DirectX9 and re-installing the version you had before (V8?)

my card is compatible with DX9.0c, its a latest version of the nvidia line.

My only problem is i can't uninstall DX9.0 and reinstall, its a one off process. DX9.0c was installed via SP2.

I will reformat my Harddrive and install windows again installing DX9.0c seperately first of all.

have you put your old card back in to see if you still have the problem,or tried the card in another machine.
what size power supply do you have?the 6800 is a bit of a power muncher?try a re-install without sp2,then install direct x 9 on its own.
wont system restore get rid of sp2 or direct x 9?
good luck.peter
