Graphics Card Drivers

Hi all,

I will be fitting a new Nvidia graphics card later today and wondered if it was necassary to uninstall the Nvidia drivers that I already have installed, or just change the cards and update the drivers with the ones I have downloaded.

Many Thanks

I think the generally held opinion is that it is better to uninstall the old graphics card completely before fitting the new one and then install the new drivers.

Obviously if the card is a direct replacement ie the old has failed and the new is exactly the same make/model then this is less important.

nVidia installs new drivers in a new sub folder in the original nVidia folder. So after the installation if you open the nVidia folder you can delete the old driver folder if you want to.

Many thanks to you all, I uninstalled the old drivers and everything went OK.
The card that I upgraded to was the Nvidia GT 240
and very nice it is too.

Kind regards
