Graphics Card

  Ade_1 14:15 30 Dec 2005

Hi, i have an ATI Radeon x300 (i think its 128mb) hypermemory. But im not sure if it is a PCI Express or PCI, all i can find for the name is ATI Radeon x300/x550 Series, and when i search for the x300 i find it is a PCI Express 256. I am slightly confuesed. IT came with my Dell Dimension 5100. I am thinking of upgrading the graphics card thats why i wanted to find out. Also wanted to find out which slot it was using. I have tried looking through Everest it says the same. Thanks in Advance

almost certain to be PCI Express as I doubt you could buy a PCI card nowadays. If it was it would be fitted in one of the white slots

i looked in the bios and it suggests its a PEG which if i am correct in saying is a PCI Express card

Hyper memory means it uses up to 128 of system memory.
x300 is a PCI-Express card, but it is also used on the ATI onboard graphics.Do you know if you you have a card in your pc?Or is it the onboard version?

I have a card as in the bios it says about onbaord graphics not being turned on.

I am thinking of upgrading, not sure whether to get an AGP or PCI-E I know PCI-E are better but it depends what i see. Does anyone think i would have an AGP slot or where can i find this out?

I also have the x300 I'm under the impression its a PCI-E card and I'm also looking to upgrade soon, although it performs ok with all games so far including Battlefield 2

If you have a slot for a card then it will be PCI-Express.
You wont get an AGP slot on a PCI-E motherboard(apart from the AsRock which has both)
