Graphic Card Makes ???

I've noticed there seems to be Graphic cards that are the nearly the same apart from who makes them.

For example the GForce 6600 GT.

Are there any differences. If so, could someone enlighten me what these are.

Many thanks

I've tried a few, though not for gaming use, which is presumably what you are after. Sapphire is my current choice; a long warranty and the standard fan - though now replaced with a heatsink - was pretty quiet. Worst experience was Hercules; fickle and unreliable, with a crappy little whiny fan. XFX was pretty good.

Yes, I have had good experiences with XFX.
Also MSI and Asus.

GeForce cards, for example, are based on Nvidia specs and are designed to run with Nvidia drivers.

Run them with those drivers and you'll be OK.

The difference between makes??

It's probably down to price and/or quality of build.

A bit like asking "what's the difference between a Ferguson TV or a Toshiba TV or a Bang & Olufsen TV?"

As far as I can work out, the performance tends to be the same unless a particular build has been overclocked or modified in some way.

Build quality certainly varies; it doesn't inspire confidence when you take a card out of its box to find that it's cheaply made, with a crappy fan and a flexy backplate.
