Got a problem with a dlink network system

  wobblymike 20:49 27 May 2006

I have a 2 pc system - master ethernet connectesd to a wireless router and modem and slave utilising a d link wireless pci adaptor.

Connectivity is fine both pcs access the net no problem. The problem comes with shutting down the slave pc - during the shut down I get a blue scteen saying memory parity problem system has been halted.
If I disable the pci adaptor the machine shuts down fine but with it enabled I get the above indication. Any ideas?

First step: uninstall and reinstall the PCI adapter, with a reboot inbetween.

Second option: check for driver updates, or even revert to an older driver. It wouldn't be the first piece of hardware to need a rollback.

Thanks for your suggestions, I found the solution buried in an obscure d link forum apparently you have to disable in BIOS PCI serial number generation under bus mastering. I have done this and the problem is gone. Hope this helps anyone who encounters a similar problem.
