google earth

  geedad 21:49 23 Jan 2009

When using Google Earth now, the appearance is something like a Grey overlay rather than the original view, which had a good 3D detail of the earth. It is a misty appearance, with little detail, but other functions seem to work OK, such as fly to etc.
Can anyone help, please?

Have you tried updating GE?

  geedad 22:19 23 Jan 2009

There was a pop-up box for 4.1 (!) update, but (a) it would not install and (b) , it was beta.
I tend not to install 'beta' updates, but what version should I update to?

  Technotiger 22:28 23 Jan 2009

My version is 4.3.7284.3916(beta) of Jul 8th 2008.

It works perfectly.

Thanks, Technotiger,
I will try again!

When I try to view buildings etc, like the Eiffel Tower, on Google Earth, the tops of them bend over. Is this due to poor graphics card on my PC? Any advice appreciated.

Still can't download this. Dialog box pops up "...something to do with IE...." Could not catch full message.
( This is trying to download from the official website, too)

No problem with other downloads.

Open GE and then go to Help and then click on Check for Updates online.

This is normal with tall structures.

Thanks again, Technotiger.
That was what I did in the first instance, hence my seeking help on our Forum.
I have "tried again", as it suggests, but to no avail.
This is the full dialogue box response when I try to download it.
"Internet Explorer cannot dowload GE C2XD.exe from
Internet Explorer is not able to open the Internet Explorer site. Either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."
As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with my IE.

Technotiger. Don't wish to hijack the thread but can one install Google Earth version 4.3 over the top of the older one (I have Version, or should one uninstall then reinstall update? There appears to be no "Update" option in the Google Earth programme, one has to hunt for it. Would it be best to wait for the system to prompt an update? (XP Pro)
