Gigabyte GA x79 ud3 may be dead need advice

Board is a Gigabyte GA x79 ud3 Switched off this morning as normal no probs. Came to switch on tonight and not powering up. Fan lights kick in and spin for a split second but nothing after that. I have USB devices that still power up even though PC is not booted. Is my motherboard broken?

First thought is a PSU failing and not generating sufficient current to fire everything up.

I was thinking maybe PSU could be failing but to have USB midi controller powering up I dunno. There is no power LED on board working though. would power still travel round motherboard to power up USB midi controller if board is dead? PSU is A EVGA modular. What should I do first buy new PSU or Motherboard or both?

first untick your post above

then unplug all peripherals from the psu just leave motherboard and graphics card if card needs power.

will it boot to an error message or into BIOS?
