gfx card upgrade

hi hope someone can help,ive just bought a x1950 pro ati but was having problems with stability and read it could be conflict with my asus MB,so i am going to send it back but i wish to know what card is as good the moment i have a 9800xt 256mb was really looking for a 512mb my spec is 1gb ram p4 3.0 and my psu is 560watt.its all a bit cloudy so i hope someone can help....shame the x1950 dont work did look great....for a short time ....thx

Have a look here, there is some good info about what Card may suit your system, there are things to consider, one would be the cards on board memory cache it doesn't always work that the most is the best a 125meg card in a lot of cases will work better than a 250 meg, the system setup is important to get the balance of PSU, processor, memory, right so you can optomise your card,good luck...

You don't want a card with a measly 128MB VRAM, regardless of it's chipset.

Okay, so the ATI option has failed for whatever reason this ASUS problem sounds a bit fishy to me, lol). So, nVidia, AGP?
