Getting Server not found with TalkTalk

I've raised this problem with talkTalk but while waiting for a reply, I thought I would seek your expert opinions.
My desktop and laptop are connected to Broadband via a Netgear DG834 router, the desktop by ethernet and the laptop wirelessly. Both run under Vista and are showing the same symptoms both on Firefox, Explorer and Mail.
The problems started after the Tiscali welcome page changed to TalkTalk. Sometimes the service is excellent. Other times I get "Server not found Firefox can't find the server at".
After a few "Try agains" the page eventually comes up, sometimes immediately.
Also I get a page with the detail but not the usual background layout. Clicking on, say, Forum then brings up the page I'm after, usually immediately once I've got the opening page. This happened trying to get into PCAdviser as well as other sites.
I'd welcome views as to whether the problem is likelt to be at my end or at TalkTalk.

is it only happening on certain sites? because the pc advisor site has been playing up for a few weeks now :o(

No. All the sites I go into. Also Windows Mail.

try right clicking command prompt and select run as administrator and then type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter

also have you run disk cleaner and got rid of temp files ? temp internet files.

Hhm, my [non-techie] neighbour is on Tiscali and has been complaining for the last few days about repeated losses of email connectivity since she her connection changed to TalkTalk.

This sounds very similar. I guess they're trying to merge the two networks and there's some indigestion along the way!

Ran CCleaner. No improvement. The laptop that is also playing up is new, little used, and with no build-up of crud.

It's a Netgear DG834GT/GTB.
Firmware Version V1.02.19

Fingers crossed. Service has improved on both PCs so I assume that it was TalkTalk.
It would have been nice, though, if they had replied to my Email.

The plot thickens. I've just upgraded this laptop to Windows 7 and the online service is excellent. But can't get online at all on the Vista desktop.
