If so how can she get her PC started to run spybot, she has tried to get into safe mode but no joy,any suggestions welcome, before she scraps the PC.many thanks hope it all makes sense.

premier man,

have you access to the command prompt, when tapping on F8.?

If so type in C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and hit the enter button.

F1 for BIOS

F8 for safe mode

You can't access command mode until Windows has started.

This is unlikely to be a virus, more likely a problem with memory. Has the PC been opened recently?

Graham ®,

there is a command prompt available, in the safe mode menu.

I must agree with Graham here, the blue screen indicates a memory problem, but a conflicting driver sometimes causes this blue screen to appear too, have you updated or installed any new drivers.

If the pc was opened and the memory modules were touched then try re-inserting them.
