Getting Rid

  johnb9 10:42 07 Sep 2007

I have used the free AVG virus protector for some time and been very pleased with the prog

I looked at another anti virus prog out of interest, and had a scan done, again for interest.
I decided to go no further and deleted any prog from this firm via control box. I have been left with an annoying pop up enticing me to click to buy program. I have found no way to get rid of this so far

Any advice would be appreciated

In the first instance, I would run CCleaner which seems to be good at killing off this sort of nuisance.

But if that doesn't work, System Restore might well do it for you. Go back to a convenient point /before/ you installed the programme which is giving you trouble.

HTH - but don't forget that the AVG Free signature file (if you've reinstalled it) will then probably be out of date, so check for updates. Same for Defender, anti-spyware progs, etc.
