Fujitsu Amilo Li 2735 screen is white, is it inverter or screen

Hi picked up a Laptop at a car boot sale (Fujitsu Amilo Li 2735) sold as not working only paid a couple of pounds for it, have switched it on and the screen is white with a bar down one side, just wondering if anyone could shed some light on the problem, could it be just the inverter or maybe the screen itself. If its just the inverter might be worth a repair. Thanks in advance. It has 2gig ram 160gig H/D

If the laptop screen is white that means the backlight is working so it would not be an inverter fault

Try it out on an external monitor that will tell you if the rest of the machine is working

If it is then perhaps a troll around on e-bay will locate a working top half to transplant if the cost is right

Either loose / faulty graphics cable or bad graphics chip.

Hi T0SH well it looks like a no go, connected it up to an external monitor (working) and nothing, so looks as though i have a 160 gig h/d and 2gig ram for less than a fiver so not all lost, thanks for your help.

Fruit Bat /\0/\ thanks for your thoughts will take a look at the inside if i can find a Service Manual anywhere on line, thanks again.strong text

There is a Fn + usually one of the Fx keys you need to press to toggle between the laptop screen / an external monitor / and sometimes both / displays

Look on the top rows of keys for an icon usually coloured (the same as the Fn key) which looks like a monitor the Fn key is usually lower left corner of the keyboard

Switch off the notebook, remove batteries (main and CMOS) and AC adapter, press the power button for 10 seconds.

Refit CMOS battery and mains cable, try to reboot, if you can get to BIOS try putting it to default settings, save and exit.
