Frozen screen

Hello Friends, what do I do about a frozen screen? I use a Vista Home Basic on my laptop and sometimes it just goes frozen and nothing on the monitor reactts to the mouse. What do I do? Thanks.

Make sure all drivers are up to date and in particular the graphics.

A temporary way out is to press and hold Control+Alt+Delete and follow the prompts to end the uncooperative program.

As to why it froze in the first place?
A much more lengthy process.

Leaving out malware or incipient hardware faults, in my experience it happens when I have been multi tasking or pressing too many buttons and given the computer insufficient time to cope.

There is the background too of one or two major apps which are not as ready to cooperate with MS products as they purport to be.
