Fried mobo G35 graphics chip?

  AdeJ 14:55 07 Jul 2009

During a recent series of updates my Vista media PC froze and had to be hard reset resulting in BSOD with an "IRQL not less than.." error.

System restore didnt help. Booted into safe and rolled back the updated drivers but still BSOD.

Deleting and putting them all back in one by one was fine until I came to the graphics driver.

Rolling back, uninstalling, deleting and redownloading various versions of the graphics driver havent done anything - I can boot properly with the standard MS VGA driver but as soon as the proper G35 driver is in I'm back to BSOD.

Vista's repair modules cannot find any errors, neither did a memtest.

Is there any way to check if the G35 chip on my mobo (Asus P5E-VM HDMI) has failed if I cant even get the driver in? Or short of wiping everything and starting again, anything else I can check?

Thanks in advance..
