"Frequency of Use" of programs record by Xp

  TATHS 20:05 05 Mar 2006

I am using Xp Home. I went in to Control panel: Add/remove software to see if I could sensibly remove any programs to free up some disk space. Several programs that I use more or less daily are described as "USED RARELY". One in particular is a DTP package and I have produced three 48 page booklets since Sept 2005 - yet the control panel says it was last used 24/09/05. MS Office 97, which I use only to look at the occasional attachment is listed as USED FREQUENTLY yet Word Perfect- my prefered word processor is apparently never used at all.

How reliable is the useage record? Is it automatically updated or do I have to activate this?

I recently went to Add/Remove progs and found the same thing the frequency of use seems to bear no relationship to real use and was wondering what it actually means. Any thoughts from XP experts?

Sorry crossed posts, I wonder why they bothered at all in this case.
