Have you tried another mouse,if so do you have the same problem?

What type of mouse, Ball or cordless battery or usb?

If it is a ball mouse, remove the ball from underneath and scrape the gunk off the rollers until the rollers are clean and smooth again.

If battery, change battery.

ps - I meant to add in my first response ... if usb, try a different usb port.

I meant,if it is unwell do the decent thing. But seriously mice are cheap enough these days, even decent ones.Don't waste your time, get a new one.

Even if you get the same problem, you'll have a spare, and members here will look for other solutions. A win win situation.

Another real possibility is that it's not the mouse that's freezing but the whole computer. If you have too many background applications running the computer might well stop responding intermittently. What antivirus are you running, and have you tried scanning for adware with something like Adaware click here. An online scan for other malware using Ewido might also reveal something click here.
