Freezing laptop and overheating, and shutting down

Hello,

Lately, I have some problems with my laptop Vostro 1540, with Windows 7 Professional. Laptop itself is old, 5 years or so. However, I would like to keep him alive as long as possibile. I will be grateful for your help. Copy from event log:

Use a Hoover to suck the fluff clear of the air vents, then use a Hair Drier to shift the dust inside. Maybe repeat twice.

Could, but won't necessarily, solve your problem.
