Freezing Internet

I am trying to help someone with a Fujitsu Siemens PC it has XP Home edition. Intel Celeron 2.6Gigahertz processor, 40Gb hard drive, Onboard graphics and sound, only 256Mb RAM and using a 56K Smart Link Modem to access the Internet. They complain that their PC keeps freezing when on the Net. I have suggested that they upgrade their memory by another additional 512Mb RAM. Do you think this will solve their problem?

There is a message that appears once XP has loaded stating that "Windows Can't find C:\Windows\system32\1.tmp" Could this be part of the problem?

Firstly you are spot on by adding more ram,256MB is not enough for xp really.
I dont think the ram is the problem that causes the freezing while online.
Firstly run Ccleaner click here and any antivirus/anti spyware programs you may have. (if more advice on this is needed, just ask)

Post back if the problem persists.
