Freeware to maintain file associations?

Does it exist? I already use winamps 'winamp agent' which means my mp3's dont get hijacked. But is there something out there that can handle .jpg, .avi etc to stop any media prog i install taking over everything.
The most recent culprit being nero 7 deciding for me that it wanted to be the give all end all application for every photo and video (music was spared) on my pc and a frustrating time changing the defaults back to what i want them to be!

click here will do some of them. If you keep an eye on the options when installing programs you can usaually stop this 'hijacking'.
