Freeview/ Set-top Box with Satellite Dish??

My brother is moving into a flat that only appears to have a satellite cable coming into it. He doesn't want to sign up to Sky. Are there any Freeview/Set-top type boxes available that are compatiable with this? Thank you for your help.

Sorry Mike....bit of a technophobe. Are you saying that they will all work with satelite dish? Are the aerial sockets not different (male/female?)

hello nikkio, the item I have linked to is a new type of freeview box known as a Freesat receiver, this will work with any standard Sky dish connection.

But where does the cable go to????

And yes, as Mike says, an ordinary Sky dish and cable will screw on to a Freesat box and work straight away.

Another option is to get hold of a Sky box and then buy a "Freesat" (not the same service as the Freesat box) card from Sky which gets you most of the Freeview/FTA channels. Mine cost £20 but that was last year. You then pair the card with the decoder and away you go - no monthly payments.
