Freeserve dialup connection

  ened 16:04 11 Jun 2004

Hi there

My Father has been away for awhile. He is now unable to connect to Freeserve as they have apparently changed their numbers (Anytime). He called their premium rate line and obtained a number which doesn't work.

Is anybody having connection problems?

Does anybody have somne new anytime numbers for me to give him please?

Try this. Do not put anything in area code put all the number including Area code in Telephone number space. To do this, double click My Computer Double click on Dial-Up Networking then right click on Freeserve\properties

Tell your father to start internet connection wizard, choose a cheap pay by minute account, get on the net, go to Freeserve, log in and in the members area, select "Re-install Anytime Settings"

Depending on your operating system go to "Add New Connection" Name it test. Put this number 08451 121212 in the Telephone Number space. As woodchip says do not put anything in the Area Code field. When that is finished double click on Test and enter anything for the user id and anything for the password. Once you are logged on follow Baledor's suggestion.

I used to be on Freeserve Anytime, & I had to put 1470 (I think it was) in front of the whole area code & phone number because I am X directory. does this apply to your father?

ened this is the freeserve anytime number i have used for some time now, "147008089916080"
you might not want to use the 147' Regard's Mammak.

He must be getting a connection because it now transpires he is receiving mail!!!!
He can't get any pages with Internet Explorer.
I am assuming he has knocked out one of his settings and have suggested a System Restore.
What else could he check?
BTW Thanks very much for all the rapid responses.

if you pick up the new wannadoo disk and insert it in the cd-rom one of the options it gives you is to recover an existing account and it dials the correct number.wannadoo have taken over freeserve but you can still recover a freeserve account using thier disk
