Free website search plugin?

  ade.h 22:07 23 May 2006

This question may well have come up already, but a search revealed no results.

Can anyone recommend a good free site search, like the Google one? I've looked through the Google pages and can't find it anywhere, so I don't know if it's still around.

NOF has one, but it's $30 a year. 23:18 23 May 2006

Thanks Barry. That looks fine.

Re: Google. I would, but as I said above, I haven't been able to find it anywhere in Google's pages.

I've got google site search on my geog site and my other site, customised, and it works fine. In NOF9 there is the facility to use google site search but I don't know if it's offered in NOF8,and anyway, I found it easier to customise the one from the google site anyway -

Thanks, mco! I'm now spoilt for choice, but I really like Barry's suggestion, so I think I'll go with that.

Can anyone please explain what "site search" is.

I am just completing the design of a website for my business and would obviously like to maximise search engines finding my site.

Will freefind (or similar) perform this function or am I way off base.

Please do not hijack other people's old threads.

I'll briefly answer your question: site search plugins are used to provide visitors with a means to search your site. It's as simple as that.

If you want search engines to find your site, wait.
